At Otabo, the first goal we set out to accomplish was to make affordable, fine custom footwear that are of the highest quality. Our achievement of this goal is evident in our product. Our second goal is to play an influential role in bringing manufacturing back to the United States.
In recent years, corporate manufacturing in numerous industries has been continually moving overseas in search of cheap labor; as a result millions of Americans have lost their jobs. We know that as an American manufacturer, we are not capable of competing with the cost foreign labor, so the logical solution was to turn towards technology and innovation.
Over eight years of research and development, we have created a unique manufacturing process that technologically surpasses that of every other shoe manufacturer – American and foreign – in the industry today. Much of our manufacturing process, from cutting leather to stitching, is digitally executed through programs and robotics developed at our state-of-the-art factory in South Florida. Our unique class of shoemakers are highly skilled, computer trained technicians and engineers, who are educated in both traditional and modern shoe making. Learning from the few traditional shoemakers left in the industry, they are a new generation of modern American craftsmen.
